Bonjour! Today we read through the syllabus for French 1. Students learned about the origins of French  (the Latin connection) and guessed the meanings of French words (cognates, with similar meanings in English).  We learned class vocabulary.

We reviewed making generalizations about food: j'aime, j'adore, je déteste  with  definite articles: LE,LA,LES.
Example: J'aime le chocolat chaud. Je déteste la limonade.

We practiced the PARTITIVE : Je voudrais, je bois, je prends , je mange with DU,DE LA,DES, UN,UNE.
Example : Je bois du thé. Je mange de la soupe.  and Je bois  une limonade.

We reviewed the verbs PRENDRE and BOIRE (both irregular). pp. 132-3. Students wrote out  #1 and essayez p. 132-3.Students played the dice game, conjugating these verbs. They had conversations describing what they liked to order at a café.

We studied quantity of food vocab (beaucoup de, un peu de, etc.) p. 124 and students took a survey on their eating/drinking routines. They did an activity, comparing pictures of people at cafes, identifying what food and drink each person had. They wrote out activities p. 125 # 1,2 . We listened to the winning song , La Même by Maître Gims,  of La Folie Musicale.

Today students had conversations using ALLER (to go) and -er verbs. We used ALLER with infinitives to speak in the future. Students wrote out #1,2 p. 118. We studied question formation (interrogatives) with est-ce que or inversion...
Exemples:

Quand nages-tu à la piscine?

We played Jeopardy. Students worked in groups, asking questions in French.
